"Learning to code can be lots of fun for our youngest learners. today's digital tools provide lots of fun opportunities for elementary students to think about code using either computers OR mobile devices. Vermont educators Phyllis Tate, Matt Allen, and Lucie deLaBruere invite you and your elementary students to use the collection of resources that we have prepared for you to participate in some fun challenge designed for early and upper elementary students. Putting the Garden to Bed!   New to the garden this year were doors on the shed, painted by local artist and parent Cindy Stotz, a new arch for supporting grape vines, a new gate, and black and red currant bushes. Also, planted for the first time this year was popcorn!  Students can’t wait to pop the corn in classrooms. Integrating art and environmental science included hanging beautiful, student made flags to help keep the deer out. We hope our garden project and environmental enrichment program will continue for many years.  The benefits of gardening  include building community spirit as well as teaching children the importance of stewardship and sustainability.  We are thankful for the many volunteers that model leadership for UCS students.

Local Community Members modeled Leadership for Young Scholars at UCS this past week.

Sue K. sang folk songs with Kindergarten students that incorporated counting and vocabulary development.

Fire Fighters for Underhill-Jericho taught safety procedures.
