Putting the Garden to Bed! New to the garden this year were doors on the shed, painted by local artist and parent Cindy Stotz, a new arch for supporting grape vines, a new gate, and black
and red currant bushes. Also, planted for the first time this year was popcorn! Students can’t wait to pop the corn in
classrooms. Integrating art and environmental science included hanging
beautiful, student made flags to help keep the deer out. We
hope our garden project and environmental enrichment program will continue for
many years. The benefits of gardening include building community spirit as well as teaching children the importance of
stewardship and sustainability. We are thankful for the many volunteers that model leadership for UCS students.
